Avian Adventure Summer Camp

Join Tracy Aviary for an Avian Adventure during our week-long summer camps for children going into Kindergarten through 5th grade. Each camp has a different theme, but all are packed full of bird-related crafts, projects and games. Campers will spend three hours each day learning and experiencing lots of nose-to-beak encounters with Tracy Aviary's feathered friends during flighted bird shows, keeper talks and special bird feedings!

Kindergarten & First Grade

Bird's Eye View

June 14th - 18th, 9 am - 12 pm

Members $110 • Non-members $125

Each day your child will experience the world from a "bird's eye view" as they discover how birds use each of their five senses. Campers will hear what birds hear, see what birds see and even feel a bird land right on their hand! They will feel the wind beneath their very own bird wings as they embark on this sensory adventure with story time, games and crafts.

Nest and the Rest - A Bird's Life

June 14th - 18th, 1 pm - 4 pm

Introduce your child to the fascinating life of birds! As they discover what makes a bird a bird, campers will learn about nests, eggs, chicks and all the thrills and skills of the bird world. They will make nests, study real eggs, play games and experience plenty of nose-to-beak encounters during this week of flighted fun!

UMNH Partner Camp: It's a Bird, It's a Plane

Partner Camp with Utah Museum of Natural History

June 21st - 25th, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

UMNH Members $210 • Non-members $230 + $25 transportation fee

Join us for a week examining flying things natural and manmade-airplanes, insects, balloons, rockets, kites and, of course, birds! Campers will spend mornings at Tracy Aviary exploring the exciting world of birds- beaks, feet, feathers, flight patterns and all. Then they will spend afternoons investigating forces of aerodynamics, rocket design and buoyancy through hands-on activities at the Utah Museum of Natural History (UMNH). Famous Feathers

June 28th - July 2nd, 9 am - 12 pm

Members $110 • Non-members $125

Campers will spend the week discovering how birds have influenced our culture throughout human history such as Harry Potter's Hedwig, the Egyptian falcon Horus and Phoenix the mythical firebird. They will absorb themselves in bird culture by building Chinese paper cranes, dancing to Swan Lake, creating their own fine art and telling stories inspired by nose-to-beak encounters with the famous feathered stars of Tracy Aviary.

Ravenous Raptors

June 28th - July 2nd, 1 pm - 4 pm

Members $110 • Non-members $125

Join Tracy Aviary staff to discover all the fascinating facts and feats of the world's birds of prey. From eagle talons to hooked hawk beaks, campers will get the chance to observe Tracy Aviary's live raptors up close. They will spend time dissecting owl pellets, hunting like hawks and finding out just what it's like to be fast as a falcon!

Art at the Aviary

July 12th - 16th, 9 am - 12 pm

Members $110 • Non-members $125

Close-encounters with Tracy Aviary's winged wonders will surely inspire the art your child creates during our "Art at the Aviary" Camp. We will form with feathers, create sculptures and mold mosaics that will be displayed in a colorful art exhibit at the end of the week. Campers will even help the keepers create art enrichment for the birds-and watch our feathered friends tear it apart!

Nests, Boxes and Burrows

July 12th - 16th, 1 pm - 4 pm

Members $110 • Non-members $125

Your camper will spend the week making nests of all sorts! They will experience everything from building a giant hawk nest, to crawling into the cavity nest of an owl, to molding a mound of mud fit for a flamingo. Campers will make mini nests to take home and then work together to construct kid-sized nests to scramble in and around. Between their creative endeavors, campers will take a sneak peak with the bird keepers at the nest building success of our Aviary birds.

Fourth Grade & Fifth Grade

Join us as we explore all things that fly, from insects and balloons to kites, rockets and birds!
Campers will spend the morning at UMNH investigating Bernoulli's principle of flight and experimenting with wind flow before heading to Tracy Aviary for an afternoon of bird-filled fun. Aviary afternoons include up-close experiences with live birds and discoveries of what makes birds the most aerodynamic acrobats of the air. This camp will begin at UMNH and end at Tracy Aviary. Art and Ornithology

July 19th - 23rd, 9 am - 12 pm

Members $110 • Non-members $125

Campers are sure to come home chirping about the Aviary's winged wonders, bird shows and behind-the-beak bird care. Arrive ready to discover fun facts about each bird's natural history through crafts, games, bird feedings and more. Campers will spend the week creating avian-inspired art in all forms including the makings of bird "enrichment," made especially for the Aviary birds.

Birds and Beyond

July 19th - 23rd, 1 pm - 4 pm

Join us for a week of wings-on experimenting and discovery into the world beyond our feathered friends. Campers will explore how birds survive in their habitats as they use their adaptations for feeding on plants, fending off predators and enduring the forces of nature. Come investigate the unique lives of birds & beyond through games, crafts and exclusive bird encounters!
