Family Volunteer Opportunities open the doors to volunteerism for youth under 16 years of age. We require that an adult always accompanies the child if the volunteer assignment is on Tracy Aviary grounds. Review the current positions available below before submitting your application.

Special Event, Utah Arts Festival: This year's theme for the Children’s Art Yard at the Utah Arts Festival is “Nautical” and we’ll be helping kids craft their own style of beak to help them “eat” successfully as birds that live at sea. Your participation as a volunteer (3 hour shift) will get you entry into the festival for the rest of the day. Due to booth space, we ask that no more than two people sign up per shift and that children are at least 8 years of age.
Weeding in Exhibits: This opportunity takes you and your family inside exhibits, working closely with bird care staff to remove weeds and beautify the spaces that the birds call home. To keep this a safe and enjoyable volunteer opportunity, we ask that the group is no more than four people (adults and children combined) and that children are at least 10 years of age.
Duck Food Bags: Kids of all ages love feeding birds and here at Tracy Aviary we want to make sure ducks on grounds are fed the best possible food. Help our Guest Services staff by filling paper bags with duck food to sell in the gift shop. These bags are convenient for families and large groups - no more digging around in one's purse or pockets for quarters! We sell these bags quickly so multiple positions are available for groups of various sizes.
