Join us in our new interactive series: Taking Flight Nights: Teen STEAM Cafés at Tracy Aviary!

These events are designed just for teens! Hardworking members of our Teen Advisory Board have invited professionals in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math to share their work through engaging hands-on activities and discussions.

The theme for June 12th will be Bird Anatomy & Art. First learn all about the interesting, elegant, and downright weird anatomy of birds from Tracy Aviary veterinary technician Morgan Dustin. Then use your new knowledge to try your hand at sketching a bird in a draw-along led by artist Boston Madsen! Check out Morgan and Boston's profiles below!

Gates open at 5:45 pm. Food and fun start at 6:00 pm.

Participation is free! Please pre-register here to make sure we have enough food for you.

Morgan PhotoMorgan Dustin graduated from Broadview University in 2016 with a degree in Veterinary Technology science. She then sat for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) the same year and passed. She currently maintains her license to practice veterinary medicine through Oregon State. She has 5 years total experience working as a veterinary technician, three of which were spent working at an exclusively exotics clinic, and one year working at an emergency/specialty clinic. She has been working at the Tracy Aviary for over a year. She has always had a passion for animals and planned on going into the veterinary field from a very young age. Her interest and love for exotic/avian medicine started early on in her career and she can’t imagine working in any other field.

Boston Madsen bio picture

Boston has never been to Boston MA but is the proud owner of a Boston Fern and Boston Pencil sharpener. She grew up with 8 crazy siblings, 8 sane chickens, and 8 lazy goldfish in Mapleton Utah. Her best friend is a border collie named Narnia who likes to wind surf and kayak. Boston has drawn and painted for longer than she can remember, but definitely remembers graduating from BYU's Illustration program where she has returned to teach Character Design for the past 5 winters. In order to afford the occasional Boston Crème Pie, she worked for 5 years with Disney Interactive on the Disney Infinity Video Game and is currently working and eating pies at Avalanche Studio as an Environment Artist for Warner Brothers Games.
