Categories: Aviary Events

Join us in our new interactive series: Taking Flight Nights: Teen STEAM Cafés at Tracy Aviary!

These events are designed just for teens! Hardworking members of our Teen Advisory Board have invited professionals in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math to share their work through engaging hands-on activities and discussions.

The theme for November 13th will be Advocating for the Earth. Carly Ferro of the Sierra Club will share ways you can make your voice heard on environmental issues and fill us in on her work to protect Utah's public lands. Check out her bio below!

Gates open at 5:45 pm. Food and fun start at 6:00 pm. Please note that these programs are for ages 13-18.

Please register here to make sure we have enough food for you!

Carly grew up in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey and graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Biology. She has a diverse background that includes corporate microbiological research and development, forest restoration, ecosystem service market analysis, and securing permanent protections for farm and ranchlands -- to name a few. She joins the Sierra Club after completing her MS in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco and a fellowship with an environmental think tank in Bozeman, MT. Since 2017, Carly has been working to protect Utah's public lands from degradation as the Chapter's conservation organizer and a representative of the Our Wild America campaign. When she is not working to protect Utah's sensitive landscape, Carly can be found snowboarding, playing soccer, traveling the world, or hanging out with one of her best friends, Ghost "aka Whispers."
