Facilities Technician

Facilities Technicians work with our Maintenance, Custodial, Rentals, and Horticulture teams to care for the Tracy Aviary in Liberty Park and the Jordan River Nature Center. They will work indoors and outdoors, performing custodial, maintenance, event setup, and light gardening duties. They possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and have good communication, organization, and problem solving skills.

Job status:Full-time, benefited, non-exempt

Schedule: 40 hr/wk 7:30am - 4:00pm, Tuesday - Saturday

Compensation: $14.50 - $15.50/hr depending on experience

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Custodial work; cleaning restrooms, offices, and guest spaces; removing waste from buildings and moving bins according to garbage pickup schedules
  • Maintenance work; painting, using small power tools, simple woodworking
  • Horticultural work; weeding garden beds, watering plants, mulching
  • Following drawings to set up and take down events
  • Maintaining clean and tidy walkways and paths by sweeping, raking, hosing, and snow removal
  • Communicating with the Facilities Manager and Operations team by email, text, and radio
  • Other tasks related to Tracy Aviary’s Operations department


  • Experience in custodial, maintenance, groundskeeping, or related fields is preferred but not required
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs, move tables and chairs, and work in all weather conditions

Tracy Aviary staff must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or show weekly negative COVID-19 test results
