Join us every 3rd Sunday for a unique experience called Forest Bathing\, instructed by Ian Napper\, M.Ed. \nDate: June 15\, 2025 \nTime: 9:00-10:30 am \nLocation: Tracy Aviary at Liberty Park \nPrice: Adult $20 / Child $15 (recommended age 12+) \nTICKETS \nWhat is it?\nForest Bathing (shinrin-yoku) is an opportunity to slow down\, come home to the present moment\, commune with Nature\, and create spaciousness. This allows for a deepening of our inner and outer awareness and rejuvenation at all levels. It is sometimes also called a Mindful Outdoor Experience or Deep Nature Connection.You can expect light walking and some sitting on the ground. In this hour-and-a-half session\, groups will be guided with easy invitational practices for mindful movement\, mindful breathing\, centering\, directed awareness\, and other experiential practices while we engage with our bodies and the More-Than-Human-World. \nResearch-backed benefits of a regular Forest Bathing practice include \n\nBoosted mood – reduced anxiety\, depression\, and loneliness\nReduced stress hormones – cortisol returning to the allostatic load baseline\nLowered blood pressure – boosts immune function\nReduced attention fatigue – boosts pro-social behavior\nImproved sleep over time\n\nOther benefits have been described as: a profound sense of awe and connection to the living Earth\, a sense of deep peace and settling of the nervous system\, profound gratitude\, and a space beyond words. \nGeneral Instructions\nRain or shine\, we are still connecting with nature! DESCRIPTION:Join us for our new monthly plant walk series\, Shoshone Ethnobotany\, with Rios Pacheco! Rios is Northwest Shoshone/Kewa Pueblo and will be sharing the NWB Shoshone language and his extensive knowledge\, ranging from traditional uses for native plants in medicine and food to the construction of shelters. Learn the stories of the NWB Shoshone migration routes\, from gathering plants in wetlands and in the mountains. This will be a three part series with various topics covered. \nHappening every 3rd Wednesday of the month starting June 18th. Walk participants will meet at the Tracy Aviary gift shop. Free with admission!
