Please take a look below at our list of events and register for the one(s) you would like to attend! Registration is not required, but preferred. If you find that you are no longer able to attend an event you have signed up for, we ask that you kindly remove your registration to allow others to take your spot.  

August 13th: Painting a Soundscape

How much do we use our sense of sound to understand the world around us? Come discover new ways to interpret our surroundings and sharpen our listening skills!

August 14th: Nature Walk

10:00 AM-11:00 AM LDS Conference Center Roof Garden (60 W North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150)

Join us for an easy-paced walk highlighting the unique features of Salt Lake City’s parks. We will equip you with everything you need to explore, including binoculars, magnifying glasses, and simple identification guides.

August 15th: What Floats Your Boat

11:00 AM-12:00 PM City Creek Canyon (Northernmost point of Bonneville Boulevard, Salt Lake City, UT)

Calling all engineers! Join us to learn about our nearby waterways through hand made natural boats. See which materials sink, float, and come together to create the perfect boat!

August 16th: Book and Boots

10:30 AM-11:30 AM Liberty Park (Meet outside Tracy Aviary)

Bring your little ones and explore the outdoors together! We will enjoy a nature-focused story, active games, fun crafts, and time for free play in nature. (While all are welcome, this program is designed more specifically for ages 2-6.)

August 20th: Eyes for Butterflies

Butterflies are the movers and shakers of the flower world.  Let’s spend time together with a keen eye out for these enchanting pollinators.

Get your hands wet exploring water quality and search for the plants and animals that depend on our streams and rivers.

**Special Program** August 24th Campfire Stories: The Art of Fire

6:00 PM-8:00 PM Terrace Picnic Area, Millcreek Canyon

Celebrate fire building and art in the great outdoors!  Join Tracy Aviary in the heart of Millcreek Canyon for a special Nature in the City event. Tracy Aviary educators will be teaching participants how to build a campfire using current and primitive techniques, providing some fun fire related art projects such as natural dyes, and ending the evening with a classic treat!
