January Volunteer Newsletter

January was off to a cold and snowy start, but that didn’t stop our volunteers from showing up and making a difference! Whether it was an individual effort or with a group, our volunteers serve a vital role in our success. Tracy Aviary and Tracy Aviary’s Nature Center at Pia Okwai wouldn’t be what they are without you. If you or a group is interested in volunteering, please check our website for more information: https://tracyaviary.org/ways-to-support/volunteer/.

Ray: “The Red-Tailed Hawk is fun to watch.”
Favorite Volunteer Activity:
Jeanne: “I like to meet new people and get them interested in birds, wherever that is. It’s fun to see all different types of species.”
Ray: “I like feeding the birds.”
Favorite season for birding:
Jeanne: “Spring is nice because that’s when the birds have their breeding plumage. It’s also when the birds are coming back from migration. We both look forward to the Christmas bird count in winter.”
Ray: “Fall is nice too because that’s also when the birds are coming back.”
A message you’d like to share:
Jeanne: “I would ask people to fight for the environment. We need more people who are passionate about helping our fellow citizens create a better place to live. We need to fight to preserve wild, open spaces for the birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, flora, and fauna.”
Ray: “Get out and bird!”
