Coffee and bagels will be provided! ☕🥯

A pair of Mourning Doves had nested near our Conservation Base Station early May and successfully raised two chicks! Our team watched them grow and it was a bittersweet goodbye as the fledglings left the nest earlier this month. 🥹

The Nature Center at Pia Okwai is a great spot to observe local wildlife. We ask if you spot any nests on our campus to let us know, and we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for our local birds. ✨

Have you seen the developments happening over at the south wall by the Amphitheater? 🎨

Local Diné multimedia artist Mychaela P. has begun painting the Medicine Forward mural, a vast project that is in collaboration with @mmirutah's Medicine Forward initiative. This project advances healing and resilience through legislative advocacy, creative expression, reciprocal gifting, and intergenerational learning.

We truly value the partnership we have with MMIR Utah, as this project enhances the Nature Center at Pia Okwai, but in their words, "also sparks intergenerational dialogue and fosters a deeper connection to the land." Learn more about the work being done through Medicine Forward at mmirutah.org. Stop by on your next visit and keep an eye on its progress with completion occurring mid-July!
