Stories of Place: A West Side SLC Eco-Justice Film Series

Tuesday May 23 at the Jordan River Nature Center

6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Join us for a special screening of four short documentaries produced by Arcia Tecun who serves as a cultural director for the Tracy Aviary’s Jordan River Nature Center. These short films will eventually be released online but will first be available through public screenings.

The event will include a screening of the documentaries followed by a panel discussion.

This event will be the inaugural screening of four short documentaries featuring four locally raised or based community members. They share stories and wisdom of what it means to be of and in this place from a variety of different perspectives including:

Viviana Hernandez
Viviana Hernandez a Rose Park raised Guatemayan outdoor adventurer and kayaker!

Secadio “Son” Sanchez
Secadio “Son” Sanchez is a local Diné/Xicano prayer runner and social worker for Sacred Circle Healthcare!

Frances Ngo
Frances Ngo an L.A. raised and Utah based Mexican/Chinese conservation biologist. She is Tracy Aviary and Jordan River Nature Center’s Conservation Outreach Biologist!

Professor Tēvita Ka‘ili
Professor Tēvita O. Ka‘ili a Tongan born West Valley raised Indigenous anthropologist and socio-ecologist!
