Diet

Cape thick-knees usually forage for food on the ground. They will eat a variety of insects. 

Habitat

The Cape Thick Knee is a sub-Saharan species. It’s habitat is open, flat grasslands usually close to water.

Nesting

Cape thick-knees are usually monogamous and both parents care for their young. Nests are built on the ground with sticks and rocks. The hen will lay 1-3 eggs.
