Diet
Marbled Teals are omnivorous, feeding on seeds, aquatic vegetation, and aquatic invertebrates.
Habitat
Shallow brackish or freshwater ponds and marshes, including seasonal and semi-permanent wetlands.
Nesting
Marbled Teals are monogamous and can begin pairing up as early as winter. Nests are built not far from water and concealed among vegetation. Clutch sizes range from 5 to 15 eggs with an incubation period of around 25-27 days.
Did you know?
Marbled Teals are relatively silent birds. Males may occasionally produce a nasal “eeep” alarm call.
