Paradisaea raggiana
Diet
Mostly eats fruit, especially figs. Occasionally eats arthropods.
Habitat
Inhabits lowland forests, lower montane forests, forest edges, gardens, and open deforested areas. Adult males mostly remain in forest interiors.
Nesting
Males gather in a common area, called a lek, and display to the females through elaborate dances and displays. Females build a bowl-shaped nest of leaves, roots, orchids or ferns, and fibers. Lays 1-2 eggs, and incubation lasts about 18 days.

It takes several years for the spectacular tail feathers of the male bird-of-paradise to grow up to three feet long.
