Diet
The Barrow’s goldeneye dives underwater in search of aquatic insects, fish eggs, small fish, and vegetation.
Habitat
Prefers lakes for breeding and rocky coasts during other times of the year.
Nesting
The female lays 1-28 eggs in a tree cavity nest lined with her own downy feathers. Occasionally, this duck will lay its eggs in the nests of other cavity nesting ducks. Incubation lasts for 28-32 days. Young leave the nest within 2 days after hatching.
