Blue-faced Honeyeater

Diet

Forages for insects and spiders, both in flight and by probing bark. Also eats nectar and fruit.

Habitat

Inhabits open forests, riparian areas, and dry sclerophyll forests.

Nesting

Both male and female gather nest materials and build a small cup nest of bark. Lays 2 eggs, and incubation is 16-17 days. Both parents bring food to the chicks.

Did you know?

Blue-faced honeyeaters have a long tongue, frayed with bristles, for feeding on nectar. The tongue can be extended 10 times per second, allowing the bird to empty the flower of nectar.
