Diet
This duck feeds either by diving underwater or dabbling on the water’s surface for seeds, buds, leaves, tubers, or roots; occasionally eats snails and insect larvae.
Habitat
Found in bays, marshes, and similar habitats with submerged vegetation.
Nesting
Nest is a bulky mass of vegetation. Lays 5-11 eggs in its own nest or sometimes in the nests of other canvasbacks.
