Diet
Preys mainly on small to medium-sized mammals, although capable of taking larger birds and mammal prey. Will also eat carrion, catch fish, rob nests, and steal food from other birds.
Habitat
Found in open and semi-open country; primarily in mountains up to 12,000 feet, canyonlands, rimrock terrain, and riverside cliffs and bluffs.
Nesting
Builds a nest of sticks and vegetation. Resident birds continue adding nest material year-round, reusing the same nest for multiple seasons. Nests average 5-6 feet wide. Lays 1-3 eggs, and incubation is 41-45 days.
