Grey-cowled Wood Rail

Diet

Forages for crabs, insects, worms, seeds, frogs, and fruit.

Habitat

Inhabits moist forest floors, swamps, and wetlands.

Nesting

Nests are made from grasses and reeds and are placed close to the water. Lays 5-8 eggs that are spotted with brown and pale lilac. Incubation is 20 days, and the male cares for chicks.
