Diet

Feeds on aquatic plants, seeds, and insects.

Habitat

Inhabits swampy tropical forests and wetlands in well-wooded lowlands.

Nesting

Lays 6-12 eggs in a tree hollow or old stick nests of other birds. Incubation is 25-28 days.

In addition to its feet being webbed for swimming, the ringed teal has long toes with claws that allow it to sit and nest in trees.
