The saffron finch eats seeds and occasionally insects.
Habitat
Found in open lowlands outside the Amazon Basin.
Nesting
The female will lay 3 to 5 eggs in a tree hollow. It is considered a secondary cavity nester, since it relies on other animals or natural formations to make a hole for its nest. It is also known to nest on rooftops.
