Diet
Crustaceans, such as crabs, and similar small marine animals, which give this bird its scarlet plumage. It uses its long, curved beak to feel for food hidden in the mud.
Habitat
Inhabits shallow marsh wetlands in tropical regions.
Nesting
Breeds in large colonies. Both the male and female work to build a loose stick nest in a tree. Lays 2-3 eggs.
