Diet

Fish, crustaceans, amphibians, and insects.

Habitat

Found near lakes, rivers, and streams in tropical and subtropical habitats.

Nesting

Both the male and female work to build a large nest from sticks, leaves, and mud in a tree. Lays 1-2 eggs that parents take turns incubating.

Did you know?

When threatened, it unfolds its tail and wings, and two “eyes” can be seen in its feather pattern.
