Diet

Mostly insectivorous, this bird eats grasshoppers, crickets, and katydids. Adults supplement their diet with fruit and nectar.

Habitat

Colonies are often in open woodlands and savannas.

Nesting

The female builds a hanging basket-type nest close to other cacique nests and will lay 2 eggs. Incubation lasts 13-15 days. Incubation and chick rearing is done by the female as the male protects the territory.
