Avian Experience Request Form

Please choose an experience and fill out the form below to request a date for your Avian Experience!

**You must book at least one week in advance for these experiences.**

All experiences require a General Admission ticket in addition to the experience fee.

Your experience will be led by a bird care staff member who will be present throughout for one-on-one questions and answers.

Filling out this form constitutes an experience request, and does not automatically book your experience or guarantee your requested date(s). Certain days and times may not be available for all experiences. Following your completion of this form, we will reach out to you by email to finalize your date and time.

Flamingo Encounter
$35 per person (10% off for Members)

Get Close with our Chilean flamingos and their South American feathered friends! The experience starts with a tour inside our flamingo holding building. Our bird care staff share all the details in caring for flamingos and why this building is important to their wellbeing. After the tour of the building, participants will step into the outside portion of the exhibit, where they will get a closer view of the birds and learn more about their natural history. During this time participants will be able to toss food to the flamingos and waterfowl. Participants will have the opportunity to watch how these birds stir up the water with their feet and use their specialized beaks to filter for food. You will feel like you are part of Tracy Aviary’s very own flamboyance!

This experience is unavailable during January or when temperatures are 24° F or below.

Availability
- 30-minute experience
- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 2 p.m.
- No Experience on Wednesdays
- Must book at least one week in advance
Participation Requirements
- Up to 5 participants per experience
- Must be at least 5 years of age to participate
- Children 5-12 must be accompanied by a paying adult
- Family and friends that aren’t participating in the experience can watch and photograph from the guest side of the Flamingo Exhibit.

Kea Encounter
$50 per person (10% off for Members)

Get Close with our Kea! The experience starts with building enrichment followed by a behind the scenes experience, meeting the Kea, and participating in a training session, and watching the Kea interact with the enrichment. If there are nut allergies, please alert through booking so accommodations can be made.

- Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Carnivore Connections
$35 per person (10% off for Members)

Get Close with our bird care staff and learn more about our raptors. Watch the turkey vultures open enrichment items, pay a visit to our parliament of owls, and toss a few treats to the eagle. Word to the wise, these birds eat whole prey items like rats and mice!

Behind-the-Scenes Tour
$20 per person (10% off for Members)

Join a member of our aviculture team on a behind-the-scenes tour of Tracy Aviary to see how we care for over 400 birds each day. The tour gives guests the opportunity to see areas that are not normally open to the public, including our Avian Health Center and holding building. Experiences can be personalized to the interests of participants.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to care for the Tracy Aviary Flock? Join one of our aviculturists for a tour of the Aviary. This opportunity will include a Q & A with one of our skilled aviculturists, and visits to behind the scenes areas. If you are interested in a career in animal care and conservation, this is a great opportunity!

Meet the Tortoises

Get to know our trio of Radiated Tortoises – Stanley Dandelion, Bernard Mustard, and Quentin Romaine while you prepare and serve them their favorite food – salad!
