🦩 Our first flamingo chick of the year has hatched! 🦩
Over the weekend, Tracy Aviary welcomed its first Chilean Flamingo chick of 2026 and we couldn`t be more excited to introduce the newest member of our flamboyance!
A few fun facts while we all fall in love with our new arrival:
🦩 Flamingo parents feed their chicks "crop milk" – food regurgitated from the parents crop this can actually cause the parents to lose their pink color, turning more off pink, which makes them easy to spot in the flock!
🦩 Chicks rely completely on their parents for food for at least the first month and parents may continue supplemental feeding for up to six months.
🦩 Juvenile flamingos don`t fully develop their pink color until they`re about 2 to 3 years old!
