Daily Programs & Activities

There’s always more to explore at Tracy Aviary. Check out the daily schedule posted at the Visitors Center for up-to-date programming information. All daily programs are included with the price of admission unless otherwise noted. Programs may be modified or canceled due to weather.

In response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) some birds are under netting while other species have specific feeding approaches to prevent interaction with wild birds. Currently all of our free-flight exhibits are open to the public.

  Meet a member of our Bird Care Team to learn more about the world of birds and their habitats.

  Locations:

  Wednesday: Siheks (Guam Kingfisher, Inside Treasures of the Rainforest)

• Bird Shows

  

  Experience the thrill of birds flying overhead, experience the talents of our feathered friends, and learn more about Tracy Aviary’s flock of Ambassador Birds.

  • Daily programs at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  • Check in with our Guest Services team on show location
  • Daily programs are free and included in the price of general admission
  • Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to ensure seating
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult and must be able to remain seated for the duration of the show

• Plants of the Rainforest Tour

  

  Mondays at 12:45 p.m. 
  Meet a member of our Horticulture Team to learn more about exotic rainforest plants!

  Please meet at the entrance to Treasures of the Rainforest at 12:45 p.m.
  The tour lasts approximately 15 minutes and concludes with a rainstorm!

  If you visit Friday-Wednesday you can still catch the rainstorm everyday at 1 p.m. in our Treasures of the Rainforest Exhibit.

• Roaming Encounters

  

  Daily at 10:00 a.m. 
  While you explore Tracy Aviary, you may encounter one (or more!) of our Ambassador Birds, including our Roseate Spoonbills, American Crow, Turkey Vultures, Kea, Ravens and Green-winged Macaw. Check in with our Guest Services team for the location.

• Pelican Feeding

  $3 for Members, $4 for non-members

  Get up close and personal with our American White Pelicans and Dalmatian Pelicans while you toss fish into their mouths!

  • Must book IN PERSON at Tracy Aviary’s Visitor Center on the day of your experience

• Lorikeet Adventure

  $4 for Members, $5 for non-members

  Get up close and personal with our rainbow-hued flock of lorikeets and get the chance to feed these colorful birds right out of your hand.

  Free Tours

  • Monday and Wednesday
  • 10-11 a.m.
  • Each tour has its own theme, and our educators will give you in-depth information about 3-4 species during a 20 minute walk around the Aviary. Recent tour themes have included Conservation, Birds of Utah, and Nests, Eggs, and Chicks. 

  Stream Exploration

  • Monday
  • 1-2 p.m.
  • Foster a connection to nature through this free-form, nature-based activity with the supervision of one of Tracy Aviary’s educators. Discover the diversity of plants and animals that live in our local streams.
• Hornbill Painting

  

  $25 per session – includes 8×10” painted canvas (10% off for Members)

  Take home a custom work of art painted just for you by our southern ground hornbills. During this experience, participants can watch the artists at work while a member of our aviculture team gives a special talk sharing interesting information about the hornbills.
